What is a Neurologist?

Alaska Neurology Center is located in South Anchorage on the corner of Dimond and Old Seward. Our facility is easy to access and offers free parking.

Do I need a referral to be seen at Alaska Neurology Center?
No, patients may be self referred. A physician referral allows for timely service and a more prepared neurologist.
What insurance types does Alaska Neurology Center accept?
We are a preferred provider for all insurance carriers in the state of Alaska.
What if I need to see a Neurologist, but do not have insurance?
We offer a sliding fee scale for self pay or uninsured patients. Contact our billing department to discuss payment plans or special arrangements.
How long does it take to get scheduled?
Our scheduling process is simple and we have an entire team of dedicated schedulers. We have several neurologists who are available should you need to be sooner than your scheduled visit. Most new patients cant be seen within 1-2 weeks of receiving a referral. To schedule an appointment or check the status of your referral click here.
What do I need to bring with me to my appointment?
Patients need to bring a valid ID and copy of your insurance card. Bring any medical records relevant to your care including images and clinical notes. New patients will be asked to complete intake forms upon check-in. Patients will be asked to review information annually.
What if I cannot make it to my appointment?
We ask that all patients cancel or reschedule their appointments no less than 24 hours in advance. Some cancellations may be subject to fees, See our policies for more info.
Are your doctors board certified?
Yes, we have providers board certified in, Neurology, Sleep medicine, Anesthesiology, Neuro-Ophthalmology.
Does Alaska Neurology Center have a sleep lab?
Yes, our sleep lab is nationally accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and our Sleep doctors are board certified.
Does Alaska Neurology Center have an MRI machine?
Yes, Our MRI suite is nationally accredited by the American College of Radiology.
What health system does Alaska Neurology Center belong to?
AKNC is proud to be one of the largest independently owned specialty healthcare facilities in the Pacific Northwest. All of our providers hold local hospital credentials as well.
Do you have a Walk-in Migraine treatment center?
Yes, we accept walk-in migraine patients from 8:00am until 2:30pm. We are able to provide relief to many types of headaches and migraines. The Walk-In clinic is for patients experiencing active migraines, A new patient consultation/ evaluation may be scheduled for a later date. All of our treatments are non- narcotic, medications are not prescribed at walk-in visits.
Do you see children?
Yes Alaska Neurology center can see children of all ages. Our team includes a Pediatric neurologist, Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmologist and Pediatric Neuro-Psychologist.
Do you do surgery?
No, Alaska Neurology center does not perform surgery at the center.
What types of research does AKNC participate?
Currently Alaska Neurology Center does not partake in clinical research studies. Several of our providers have been involved in major neurological studies.
Why Does a Neurology Center have Physical Therapy?
Our physical therapy dept. plays a vital role in many of our patients treatment and recovery plans. Neurologists treat stroke and traumatic brain injuries, patients with these conditions utilize Physical therapy during recovery. Our Doctor of Physical therapy is experienced in providing every level of care.
Can I get my MRI done at Alaska Neurology Center?
Yes! You can request us to your provider or contact us directly.
What type of MRI do you do?
We are accredited to perform all types of MRI and can do with and without contrast. We also do dog MRI!
Do Neurologists treat depression?
Neurology plays a role in the treatment and management of depression. Our providers are experienced and constantly expanding their knowledge in the world of mental health. Alaska Neurology Center provides TMS therapy to Alaskan’s suffering from Major depression. TMS is a drug free, non-invasive FDA approved treatment for depression.
Can you see me for counseling?
No, unfortunately we do not offer counseling. Our Neruo-Psychologists’ provide diagnostic and testing services. We can help you find counseling solutions.

If you are experiencing trouble getting through to a live person, we apologize. Leaving a message ensures our staff will get back to you within 72 hours although many calls are returned same day. We are proud to provide services to over 150,000 Alaskans and appreciate your patience.
